Thee Fisherman's Soap

Recently I was asked by WFN to use and review a sample of Thee Fisherman's Soap. Unlike products that are heavily perfumed to mask odors, Thee Fisherman’s Soap is formulated to eliminate odors such as, fish, onion, bait, cigarette and skunk. It is biodegradable, made from all natural ingredients that remove unwanted odors from hands, fishing gear, mats, coolers, tackle boxes, lures, fish boxes and other surfaces.

Around the garage and dock, Thee Fisherman’s Soap effectively removed the odors from penetrating oil, gasoline, brake fluid, diesel fuel and tobacco.

Before making the first cast, most anglers take measures to avoid the transfer of other scents when handling baits. Odors left behind by petroleum products, tobacco, and human scent can often cause fish to shy away from striking. Some anglers apply fish scent attractants to their hands to mask odors. Using Thee Fisherman’s Soap before handling fishing equipment or baits eliminates those undesirable scents.

After a day of handling bait, applying fish scent attractants to lures, unhooking the catches, cleaning and fileting mackerel, snappers and dorado, Thee Fisherman’s Soap worked well to eliminate the days odors before driving home.

In the kitchen, Thee Fisherman’s Soap removed odors left by peeling shrimp and shucking clams.

From the garage, to the water, to the kitchen, a few drops of Thee Fisherman’s Soap and a little water worked well to eliminate odors. It lathers up nicely with a very mild citrus scent that fades shortly after use. A few drops go a long way. Available in 1oz and 4oz bottles, Thee Fisherman’s Soap can be conveniently kept in the tackle box, glove box, sink or shower.

Thee Fisherman's Soap
Last week WFN sent me a product from a new sponsor to field test. The product is Thee Fisherman's Soap. Due to bad weather and family commitments I wasn't able to try this product until yesterday. I had bought similar products over the years that only masked the fish odors for a short while. I wanted to put this product to the test. I use a lot of Berkley Gulp Alive and my hands were in the jar about 15 to 20 times yesterday. I had caught 10 fluke before lunch and all the fish were released by hand. I normally clean my hands before lunch with a waterless disinfectant hand cleaner but this time I just used the sandwich wrapper to hold my sandwich so I wouldn't remove any odors. I went back to fishing after lunch and my hands were back in the Gulp jar. I caught several more fluke when I caught a blue fish. Blue fish are slimy smelly fish. When blue fish are around they tare your soft plastics to shreds so I switched to a less expensive soft plastic and applied some menhaden Pro-Cure to the soft plastic. The blue fish left and I went back to fluke fishing and caught another 8 fish including 1 keeper. I smoked a cigar on the way home. I got home and cleaned the fish. At this point my hands were reeking. I was out all day handling fish, my hands in the Gulp jar, using Pro-Cure, smoking cigars and filleting fish in 90 degree heat. I went inside to wash my hands with Thee Fisherman's Soap. It took off all the smells of the day. I was impressed but it still didn't completely pass the test. I had waited a half an hour smelled my hands and they still smelt fresh. Thee Fisherman's Soap is an amazing product and I highly recommend it to everyone. It surpassed my expectations by a long margin.

Thee Fisherman's Soap

I have heard anglers share several home remedies and gimmicks about removing the odor of fish and bait from hands, tackle, coolers, and live wells. Many of these remedies only mask the smell until the next warm day only to make the scent worse than before. I recently was introduced to a new product that solves the problem of the smell. Thee Fisherman's Soap, and when used on tackle, hands, coolers, live wells, and other washable surfaces, will take care of the odor problems by eliminating them without only masking the odor to return later.

Anglers know that artificial fish scent attractant can actually smell worse than bait and will leave a scent that lingers even longer and is almost impossible to wash off hands and gear. This is not a concern when using Thee Fisherman’s Soap.

“Thee Fisherman's Soap is a biodegradable, specially formulated to eliminate fish and bait odors; not to mention cigarette and skunk odors. Give it a try on just about any stinky job you have.” Just lather up, scrub, and rinse. For more intense jobs, you may want to use warm water with a scrub brush for even better results. A great product for anglers and cooks.

Some tips from Thee Fisherman's Soap for cleaning your gear:

First empty your tackle box. Use Thee Fisherman’s Soap to clean out the box with warm water. The "human" smells fish can pick up from your tackle and gear can also be washed away with Fisherman’s Soap. Also, don’t forget to clean the hinges and wash down the separate compartments. Finally, dry it with a dry cloth.

With a mild solution of Thee Fisherman’s Soap and warm water and a soft cloth, clean lures and spinnerbait blades. This is a good time to inspect your lures and make sure the hooks are sharp enough for the upcoming catch. If they are not sharp, use a hook file to sharpen them. Check over your lures to make sure they are not torn, damaged, or otherwise compromised. Reorganize your tackle box for use.

Use a soft bristle brush a mild solution of Thee Fisherman’s Soap and warm water while cleaning your fishing rod. While checking your reels, don’t tear them down unless they’ve been neglected for some time. Just make certain that the winding mechanism of the reel is in good working order if the line is securely held. To clean the reel, use Fisherman’s Soap and water with a soft bristle brush.

Happy Fishing!
